Fred Slaughter, Who Helped U.C.L.A. Win Its First Basketball Championship, Dies at 74

Slaughter, a center, averaged 7.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game when the Bruins went 30-0 in the 1963-64 season, winning the first of John Wooden’s 10 N.C.A.A. titles.
